Intelligent power distribution for energy independence
CWS's microgrids combine various energy sources— CHP, solar panels, wind turbines, generators, fuel cells, grid power — within defined electrical boundaries. In conjunction with the renewable generation assets, CWS deploys an advanced control system for microgrid integration. CWS microgrid controllers are designed to integrate all distributed generation assets and optimize operation while monitoring all components. The control system maximizes microturbine/gas engine efficiency when paired with wind, solar, and battery energy storage system to create a "perfectly balanced" microgrid solution with low fuel consumption and high-power output. Additionally they act as a single, controllable unit that can either connect to the main power grid or disconnect to run independently (island mode) and provide enhanced reliability and resilience.
Our designed microgrids deliver power independence through maximized renewable utilization for enhanced reliability.

A microgrid is a distribution network that incorporates a variety of distributed energy resources (DER) that can be optimized and aggregated into a single system. The integrated system can balance loads and generation with or without energy storage and is capable of islanding whether connected or not connected to a traditional utility power grid. Distributed energy resources typically include other dual-mode microturbines, reciprocating engines, solar photovoltaic (PV), wind turbines, fuel cells and battery storage. Microgrids can be connected to larger electricity grids, and in the event of a widespread outage, can disconnect from the main grid to operate independently and supply electricity to homes and businesses that are connected to the microgrid's electricity network.
